Colloquium Fall 2005
Graduate students taking the colloquium for credit are expected to attend a minimum of eight of the presentations by the guest speakers.
Course Requirements
Presentation Summary: A
1-2 paragraph summary is due to the faculty organizers (Dr.s Weller and Kinser)
by the following Tuesday at
Research Summary: In
addition each student must prepare, in advance, for one of the guest speakers
presentations by reading a minimum of two publications authored by the
speakers, summarize the hypotheses tested and methods used by this
investigator, cite the articles read and include five questions they would like
to ask the investigator about the research. This 3-5page paper is due to the
faculty organizers by
Grade
Effort will be graded based on participation (attendance and interaction with speakers). The students’ grade will be lowered one-half letter for each extra missed seminar, and for each seminar for which a Presentation Summary was not turned in, regardless of the students’ presence. The grade will be lowered an entire letter value if the Research Summary is not turned in. Late assignments will not be accepted.
Honor Code
Honor Code violations including plagiarism will be reported to the Honor Council.
