Bioinformatics Colloquium BINF 704 Sec 001 Fall 2005 Prof. Kinser http://www.binf.gmu.edu/colloq.html Welcome to BINF 704 Bioinformatics Colloquium. The Colloquium will present a series of speakers, both from outside GMU and from the Bioinformatics Program faculty. The Colloquium meets on Tuesdays at 4:30 pm in the Verizon Auditorium in the Occoquan Building, on the Prince William Campus. Refreshments are served at 4:00 pm. 1. Check your GMU email by logging into http://mail.gmu.edu . 3. There are 12 planned technical talks. Note that we will not meet October 11 (Columbus Day Break). 4. Grades will be based on attendance and participation and on your reports. All our speakers are eager to interact with students, so you should take advantage of the opportunity. 5. You are required to write reports on two of the presentations. Your reports should describe the research presented by the speaker in the context of prior work. This means that you should read a number of research articles on the given topics. Your report should be in the form of a short scientific review, and should be 4-5 pages in length. Reports should be submitted by email and are due on XXX and XXX. 6. Honor Code violations including plagiarism will be reported to the Honor Council. Let me know if you have any questions.
